HISTORY
Castelvenere lies on the southern foothills of Mount Matese, north of the Taburno Mountain and enjoys one of the most characteristic landscapes of the Sannio area and Capania Felix at large.
Agricola Foresta was founded in 1974 by Eugenio and his family in the beautiful setting of the hills of Benevento and its surrounding small towns of Castelvenere and Guardia Sanframondi. Eugenio’s sensitivity and passion for nature made him feel and seize the best that the place offered.
Agricola Foresta, today one of the most solid and strongly rooted estates on the territory, with less than 30 hectare area, has been handed down from generation to generation for more than three decades.
Dedication and sensitivity still characterize the work of Eugenio and his son Dr. Giuseppe, who have pursued the same aims by combining old tradition and long experience with modern skills, studies and work in order to produce genuine and rare wine.
THE VINEYARDS
Grown on a generous, calcareous-clay, medium-textured soil, naturally destined to olive trees and vine cultivation. Selective choice of indigenous vines, famous for their characteristics since the Greek, Roman and Samnite times, well- settled in a territory providing a variety of climate and favourable position as well as the right number of buds per plant, strict pruning, right ratio fruit-leaves, little growing per hectare, appropriate sun exposure during ripening by means of trellises which support the climbing plants and pruning in the Guyot system, are the requirements on which high quality agriculture is based.
THE CELLAR
Finally, here comes man’s hard work: only premium grapes carefully and accurately selected during harvesting, then processed with modern plants and equipment in the first stages of the wine making process ,which leads to the magic transformation of grapes into a “MERUM” wine, rich in history, mystery and human dedication. Up to date, modern wine making techniques follow, with meticulous and continuous quality control at all stages of the process ;from crushing to fermentation, from decanting to aging, until the last “tasting-verdict” during the pre-bottling stage, when careful “noses” and fine “palates” give their approval . Our products are selected according to the most ancient wine making tradition of the Samnites and created with innate passion and expertise |
